Hi. My name is Ben and I'm the principal photographer & owner of Fusion Photography. I have been married for 23 years to the most gorgeous & adorable woman in the world and I'm still madly in love with her. She is the big bang of my universe - my light, my energy and everything that matters! I am a hopeless romantic and a complete softy (I still buy my wife roses & I often cry at the movies!) So naturally I love weddings and my work is not just a passion, it's an obsession. Being cursed with OCD I have an obsessive attention to detail and a tendancy towards perfectionism in my work. Fusion Photography reflects my ideals for the highest levels of professionalism & service. I devote myself to my clients (as my many wonderful thank you cards will attest - see the testimonials page) through every step of the wedding process, from the initial planning through to the delivery of their stunning hand-crafted designer album.
Being a "gadget boy" as my wife calls me I also spare no expense in providing my precious clients with the benefits of the latest state-of-the-art camera technology & post-production facilities. I personally (and with a lot of care) process every photo that leaves the studio using a full range of photographic techniques and effects in our digital darkroom. And when it comes to choosing your designer album and other products we carry a full range of international products sourced from the most pre-eminent suppliers in the world.
My shooting style is inspired by romance, glamour & beauty. While I combine a "fusion" of modern, fashion, and artistic elements, my end goal is to create an aesthetically beautiful image that you will treasure on your wall. I know how hard it can be to be photographed so I also make sure your shoot is relaxed & fun to help you overcome any nerves or fears you may have about being photographed and to allow your personalities to shine through. No boring posing sessions here & I will never ask you to say "cheese"! My fabulous couples always end up telling me what a ball they had and how quickly the time went. I shoot wedding all over Australia & also destination weddings worldwide. In the last few years I have been privileged to shoot weddings in South East Asia, China, The Pacific, Europe & North America and I'm always happy to travel and explore new places.
Though weddings are my core business, I also enjoy children's portraiture and theatre photography. I support many local theatre groups such as The Queanbeyan Players, Canberra Dramatics, The Q, and The Canberra Philharmonic. I have also been the official photographer for the Canberra International Music Festival for the last three years. I have held many successful exhibitions on various themes. My last exhibition, "The art of wedding Photography", was held at The Tuggeranong Arts Centre in April last year.
I have been privileged to train with many of the best photographers in the world over the years and now I really enjoy passing on all my photographic knowledge to others. As the current state president of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers I am very active in the photography community, organising and supporting many workshops, seminars and exhibitions throughout the year as well as mentoring new emerging photographers. Along with the many private students I teach each year, I regularly run creative photography workshops for the Canberra Institute of Technology, Tuggeranong Arts Centre & each year at Floriade. I also give photography lectures and judge competitions for many of Canberra’s active photographic clubs as well as sitting on the assessment panel for graduating students doing their bachelor of Photography at CIT.
